Enjoy the heights of Dubai with these high-altitude experiences
Go cloud walking in the ‘city of the sky’ where there’s plenty of high-on-action experiences for the whole family. Whether it’s a seaplane tour over the coast, taking in the view from the world’s tallest building or tracking the world’s largest fountains, one of the best ways to experience this city is from on high. Whatever you do, don’t look down.
Predator rollercoaster at IMG Worlds of Adventure
Start your trip with a drop – literally. At the world’s first indoor theme park, thrill-seekers can dare to ride the Predator, a 400m-long vertical rollercoaster. After a slow climb up the perpendicular track, you’re hurtled down a 90-degree drop (yes, you read that right) at heart-stopping speeds. And in case that isn’t enough, you then soar into loops and rolls for a thrilling ride. Once won’t be enough.
Seaplane tour with SeaWings
Put those superpowers into practise and soar high above the city with a scenic seaplane tour of Dubai. SeaWings’ signature flight, a 40-minute Dubai Silver Air Tour, takes off from Dubai Creek or Jebel Ali and cruises past Dubai’s most iconic landmarks, including the Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa and the World Islands. Family games a household ritual? Expect one impressive battle of “I spy”. Ask about deals for children.
Sunset at At The Top, Burj Khalifa
Take the minute-long elevator ride to the 125th floor observation deck of the world’s tallest building for a sunset that’s hard to beat. As well as panoramic views of the city and the opportunity to engage in fun trivia about the Burj Khalifa and Dubai, the deck features telescopes with HD cameras and high zoom, and a new “Falcon Eye’s View” exhibit, which “flies” you to some of the city’s most prominent landmarks.
High-altitude views at The Dubai Fountain
There’s no need to get dizzy to experience Dubai’s knack for height. Spouting water 140m into the sky, The Dubai Fountain can easily be enjoyed with two feet planted firmly on the ground. Watch from outside The Dubai Mall as the world’s largest choreographed fountain is synched with lights, and grooves along to tunes including Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Shows take place every 30 minutes from 6pm onwards. The fountain is most breathtaking at night.
Tree top surfing at Aventura in Mushrif Park
This December, experience the new Dubai adventure park, with a range of high altitude activities for families, including rope course challenges, tree-top surfing and wall climbing. Set on 35,000sqm of natural ghaf tree forest within Mushrif Park, it offers visitors the chance to connect with nature and immerse themselves in Dubai’s great outdoors.
