A Fashionista’s Guide to Dubai

Katie Trotter makes the stars look good. Now it’s her turn…

Katie Trotter, the Fashion Director of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, has been a big name on the fashion scene for a number of years. Shooting celebrities from Cara Delevingne and Sonam Kapoor to Huda Kattan, she is one of the people shaping the region’s fashion industry. Here she shares her top fashion and food spots in Dubai.

IF Boutique

One of Dubai’s more off-radar concept stores, IF has a really great line-up of brands that aren’t so easy to find in Dubai like Uma Wang, Rick Owens, Yohji Yamamoto to name a few, which is why it is one of my favourites.

Bloomingdale’s Dubai

Loads of big name brands and more on-point contemporary names make Bloomingdale’s one of the best department stores – a little taste of NYC in the region.

If you haven’t been to Coya at the Four Seasons then you haven’t lived. Such a cool atmosphere coupled with food to die for – it is my default address for when guests are visiting. Or anyway for that matter.

The Maine Oyster Bar & Grill

Another slice of American style, Maine in the Hilton Doubletree is just like being in a brasserie in Maine itself.

O’de Rose

A quirky little boutique on Al Wasl Road, O’de Rose is one of those places where you instantly feel like you’re about to find something extra special. An eclectic mix of fashion and interior pieces, as well as art, it’s a little tucked away gem.

My number one high street store, COS is amazing for basics. Always contemporary, and minimalist in aesthetic; it’s very much my style.

LE66 Concept Store

A super hip concept store from Paris that’s recently opened in City Walk, it houses some brands that have never been here before, including coveted Camilla Elphick ankle boots.

One of Dubai’s only vintage boutiques, Garderobe is another little gem. Especially thanks to the well-dressed women of the region who donate their barely used Chanel, Gucci and Saint Laurent handbags.

My favourite Dubai-based label by far, Bouguessa is proof that the region has some really promising design talent.

Mythos Kouzina & Grill

I love Greek food and Mythos is really like being in Greece itself, but in a little cluster of JLT. Really good food, reasonably priced and in a great location. It is one of the best restaurants in Dubai.

Dubai Outlet Mall

A dream for discounted designer pieces that come from the likes of Bloomingdale’s, Harvey Nichols and Boutique 1, where I have acquired some amazing pieces from Givenchy to Alexander Wang.
